Some key points - great video and everyone should watch it:
1. Process flowsheet has gone through significant testing. They are confident it will run on specs, and how they have developed this plant, no wonder LTR is very confident.
2. Efficiency and redundancies incorporated so that the plant can run at sound opex cost.
3. Plant design optimised so that any maintenance and repairs can be done at minimal downtime. This equates to ensuring opex costs come in on budget, and clearly they have learned from the mistakes of others.
4. Rock on rock contact comments throughout means you have less wear on the plant so that keeps a check on maintenance costs and capital depreciation.
5. Other interpretation of point 3 and 4, is the debate on here of some on capex cost overruns is not strictly pertinent - they have added capex to the design after more testing which is paid back through lower maintenance and reduced downtime. This means the recovery rate forecast is certainly achievable - they have learnt lessons from others.
6. LTR understands the concept of ensuring particle size into the SAG is consistent - this ensures performance and again recovery rates can be achieved. The speaker is very impressive and knows the ins and outs of this plant - massive tick
7. Pace of commissioning (1st dry and then wet) again is ensuring you know what the plant is doing, and in commissioning this process allows one to target any issues that may arise quickly through understanding where they have occurred. Again a redundancy provision in ramp up and commissioning.
8. Control panel next to the mill a key and smart move, and understanding the need to realign the mill every 4 months and approach a key to plant efficiency - again understanding this ensures recovery rates can be met and is a key to controlling downtime. Dedicated hoist to 'liner' replacement in the mill is very very very impressive - so some increased capex since the DFS was about reducing downtime (not cost overruns on initial design).
9. Rock and rock philosophy is all about controlling wear and tear on the capex and is a concept laid through the plant.
10. Quicker summary for all - the video is 'porn' for process engineers. Video and knowledge of the speaker is exceptional.
11. Single flowsheet is a smart concept - WOF equals constant particle size and feedstock. (Agree in that LTR could have done a DMS/floatation process but given the quality of the ore it felt the best economics, one where downtime is reduced, is by having a WOF concept with redundancies as that reduces downtime and has the greatest prospect in ensuring recovery rates and hence costs are achieved). The walkway to all aspects of the plant is quite smart - simple view, you can work out what is going on quicker and fix what needs fixing quick - again reduced downtime.
12. Water quality a key and good to see they have stated the water quality in their view through reverse osmosis is at what they thought.
13. Test test test the process flowsheet - key a lot of effort went into identifying what works and what reduces maintenance costs and ensures recovery rates are met.
14. Clearly down the track capex will be lower per unit of capex to move to 4mtpa as apsects of the plant have already been built to 4mtpa specs.
