The workover of the upper sands at Ash Creek have been of interest for a while and the hold-up with testing these was Elk’s partner in the field. It has now bought them out and will form a JV with the owners of Ash Creek South to test these upper sands.
Looking at http://wogcc.state.wy.us/FieldMenu2.cfm I can see that Ash Creek South is currently producing at 30-40 bopd and has produced over 9MBO in its life.
The interesting thing is that when I look up Ash Creek (Elk’s field) I see that it produced 378 barrels in February. I thought it was not supposed to be producing! Anyway, it has produced over 6MBO in its life.
These two fields combined are a reasonable size. I remember reading somewhere that these are a candidate for CO2 injection. So there is further potential there.
Testing of the Parkman formation at Ash Creek South looks like will happen during the next month or two and that could surprise if it is successful. If it flows 200bopd, Elk’s 50% would be worth about $10,000 a day.
