    Freedom of opinion is one thing but the article clearly says she was sacked because she was asked my management if "as a St John volunteer she would respond to a call-out at the detainee centre and she had said "she probably couldn't"."

    To put that in perspective it would be as if, say, you were a white Western Christian living in a Jewish or Muslim country, and a local ambulance crew would not come to your rescue because you are white or you are a Christian or perhaps even because you arrived on a boat instead of a plane! Think about it. Its ridiculous!! She cannot work for the ambulance service because she cannot carry out her job, simple as that.

    P.S. There is a lot of racism in country WA. I can say that because I was born in country WA.
