Treasury officials have merely explained that the assumptions made in costing the Coalition's commitments by Labor have differed somewhat from those used by the Coalition itself.

They could never have been identical because Tony Abbott & Co have steadfastly refused to detail them for fear of how much electoral damage that would do to their election campaign.

Tony Abbott has never let data such Australia's AAA stable rated economy and world best macro-economic KPIs get in the way of his relentless, destructive negativity so it's pretty rich to expect Labor to bow and kowtow to him in return.
