Sorry Fallguy, I think we do and have in the past shown and given respect. Just think about Indonesia. Look at all the respect we gave them, we agreed with their annexation of East Timor. We respected them, from a Government point of view, over that. The only Government in the world, or am I wrong on that, I'll stand corrected on that.
And should we have much respect for the Japanese? They cannot even admit their wrongdoing in China in World War II.
Respect for China, a nation that still jails religious leaders of various kinds. ( I know that is a cheap point)
Given what happens in Asian countries we have shown a lot of respect. How about some in return.
