Ocker: I am NOT in the banking industry. Regardless, I believe that both HSBC and Deutsche Bank (in spite of some smaller involvement in that sub-prime mess) would have strong enough balance sheets to mount a take-over. However, I would seriously doubt that they would be interested in an Australian bank per se and also I would doubt if the Australian Government would let them do it....
