If you make a report to ASIC of misconduct that is well reasoned and backed up with material evidence they are OBLIGED to investigate it.

On the other hand if you just send a generalised rant that is poorly argued and not supported by evidence it will get short shrift. Sadly, a large majority of complaints that ASIC receives fall squarely into this area. They do get absolutely flooded with complaints and have a difficult job of sorting through the chaff.

If you want to get ASIC to take something on, one well reasoned/supported issue at a time in isolation is the way to go. If they receive a series reports of misconduct relating to different issues about the same company red lights will be going off everywhere.

Word of caution: be careful what you wish for. Bad press for the company that causes further SP depreciation isn’t something ASIC will care about once they get going.

(and for those who think ASIC doesn’t investigate, take a look at their Linked in feed, they publish outcomes of higher note on there every other day)
