Also, these witnesses would have known for quite some that they would be called and cross-examined and the very matters that they would be challenged on. Collinson KC is a very experienced silk and would have gone through things chapter and verse with them. If they don't measure up in the box under skilful cross-examination, then that's their (or perhaps others?) misfortune.
