Yes they are very reliable if you want to clear your bush block. Park this vehicle in the middle of summer in long grass and they are guaranteed to start a fire. Keep the engine running so the exhaust stays hot (may not be necessary if already very hot).

Maybe keep money in your pocket and wait for the launch of the new Oz ‘fuel efficient’ compact to take on the might of the Japanese and Koreans. The car will use ‘advanced engine technology’ (petrol of course). None of this electric/hybrid stuff for us. Good old fashioned (oops!) technology.

“This is the first project to be funded under the Federal Government's $1.3 billion Green Car Innovation Fund”
Or enough money to fund two Young laterite projects and the entire R&D required. Some pumped up bureaucrats who drive around in chauffeur driven cars and have no idea what petrol costs per litre (or any other expense) came up with this little scheme. Hybrid cars are for greenies (rich ones) and all those weird people who never drive more than 80k’s from their abode. How the hell are we going to tow the boat to Batemans Bay with one of those duds?

Possible names for this car could be:

Camira- Illustrious history in Oz motoring; ‘the poor man’s commodore’. Very underrated but worthy of re-launch. Even better and more powerful than the early commodores with 4 pots!!!

Sigma- Great little car that kept Mitsubishi going after the demise of Chrysler Australia. Name is perhaps a little bland for our new car and can be confused with the word ‘stigma’.

Magna- The ‘wide bodied Sigma’. Another little gem with impeccable pedigree. Struggled to compete against the Falcon and Commodore (who cares) with a turning circle comparable to any ocean liner.

Leyland P76- Any car with the name Leyland has to be a winner. Leyland 20k, because that’s what it will cost. Gee the Korean car industry must be nervous!!!

JRV’s resource at Young is a bit like a car without an engine.

Murrin Murrin, Cawse, Ravensthorpe etc all used V12's and V16’s. High tech guzzlers with lots of power but very unreliable. Cracked engine blocks, pistons, cranks and prone to overheating. Low oil pressure, high oil pressure they could not get the engine right. Rebuilds were horrendously expensive. This technology is on the way out as nobody can make any money, especially at current metal prices.

JRV have been pushing their car for 10 years without success and have now encountered a hill. That hill might not be as steep as some people think. Norm is waiting with his tow truck to take this car to the wreckers. Broken up for parts or just left to rust. Norm has his owns cars without engines, waiting for a technology breakthrough. Norm, if only you were a metallurgist you might have some ideas.

Snakes in the long grass, Toot Toot.

    Hope this helps you TG.
