There is absolutely no doubt that most shorting creates a fall in share prices that allows the buying back of those shares cheaper. The fall is natural because a borrowed share does not have to be bought, which means there is no buying pressure to match the selling pressure created. It is simply a method of price manipulation to make a profit that is recognised and allowed by ASIC.
