Cross-jurisdiction collaboration is key to building alternative critical mineral supply chains.That was the message that came across loud and clear in keynote presentations from Rowena Smith, Managing Director of Australian Strategic Materials (ASM) and Reta Jo Lewis, Esq., President and Chair of Export-Import Bank of the United States, on day one of the 2024 AusIMM Critical Minerals Conference. ASM has been working with EXIM on opportunities to fund its cornerstone rare earths and critical minerals hashtag#DubboProject, having announced a conditional $US600 million debt funding package earlier this year. The funding is linked to the potential US equipment, goods and services to be supplied in the construction phase of the Dubbo Project.“We recognise that demand for critical minerals is growing and it is critical that we work together to identify secure sources of these minerals so we can count on them for national security and vital infrastructure applications,” Chair Lewis told over 700 delegates in Brisbane.
