If I started walking around my business in sneakers then you would see, (in time), a decline in standards of our products and service. Then you get other staff wearing sneakers of varying looks/types and the downward spiral accelerates. If I went into meetings with overseas suppliers, attended European trade shows and/or stood in front of customers wearing sneakers then it would reflect poorly on my business.
First impressions count and if you operate in senior positions you should lead by example.
In the world of Tec they may get away with it, (it forms part of their 'schtick), but I don't believe it is a good look when operating on the world stage.
