I'm not convinced we're seeing daily pump and dumps. I think it's most likely it's an accumulation strategy with a targeted price range – buy what's on offer in the morning (when retail traders usually do their trading), then sell the price back down with thousands of tiny trades, many of which probably have the same party on both sides of the trade. Rinse and repeat the following day, changing the pattern once in a while to not make it so obvious and/or to discourage day traders. There's also 2m shorted shares, and I'm sure those who have taken significant short positions would love to see Van Eck's holdings hit the market (and so would anyone who is accumulating), and perhaps they are willing, and able, to actively push for this to happen. None of it really matters as far as ASM's fundamentals go, but seeing these sorts of games getting played can be a bit annoying at times. All IMO.
