I agree completely. In my post I was giving the optimistic perspective for the shorts... but the scenario you lay out is what I am starting to think is what they actually face.
I am not a big fan of the idea that short sellers get caught in a squeeze... but unless they change course it might happen in this case. Buyers lining up at these prices will be hard to shake out of their positions... and speaking for myself, I have continued to buy and I am sleeping soundly.
The volume can be misleading.... e.g. how many times are the shorts trading for pips? i.e they might already represent the majority of the trades.
