You can do institution to institution trades off market that don't don't show up on the Asx trading platforms. In fact there are a large number of block sales that that go through that way so insto's don't have to pay brokerage and alert the market except through substantial holder notices.

Say Aust. Super wins a mandate to mange $50,000,000 super funds and they wish to retain $ 1,000, 000 of BHP that the prior manger held. They'd do it that way. Futher if I move 200 shares form my name or co to my super fund I can do it via a standard transfer form. For tax reasons I have to use the current market price but it doesn't gov. the Asx trading platform (obviously the registry note it).

I'm not saying it would be the majority of an arcane share like ASM.

We (small S/H) especially on HC are only a small part of the Aust. share< Intl share<International FI<Int'l FX universe. And then there's the dark pools.
