I like this classic sequence.
a) Share price starts to go up usually due to leaks in the chain somewhere
b) Momentum traders get on the action based on TA
c) Shorts run for a cover
d) TA throws out more compelling buy signals (Stock blowing pass moving averages and resistance bands)
e) Speeding ticket and company response that "news is not cooked enough yet to announce" (Optional step)
f) Or straight to a trading halt and release of announcement
g) Traders sell the news, Investors de-risk their models, re-rate and start to accumulate (playing games along the way)
