If funds no longer own ASM then they do not have the shares to lend out to shorters, so you're correct. But I thought it was the lead up to and initially entering into the ASX300 which forced these funds to buy that predominantly propelled the share price to $14 in the first place; which was also off the back of good news at the time that seemed as though we were progressing a lot faster than we were. So it's a catch 22 in that regard.
My hope is that once the funds and in turn shorters have exited then some short term news will reignite interest in the stock and we can rebuild from here. The world's macro-environment still doesn't exactly breed confidence in this though.
