Van Eck payed a dividend. Ex-date was Dec 20th. Hand in hand with the payout goes a reduction in investment volume due to the pay out. So there was some liquidity needed to pay it to the investors and they most probably sold the shares more or less evenly distributed between the companies they hold to keep the percentages within the REMX constant.
