I currently have the following information up to 28th of April from Van Eck website but don't now if your indicated changes may have happened since then. According to these figures Van Eck has sold down ASM by about 0.25% which may be consistent to cover with withdrawals from the fund. Some other Australian stocks in the index appear to have been sold down 3%-5%. ASM is still trailing at the bottom of the pack as far as index weight is concerned and I would be more than happy to see ASM drop off the bottom at the next rebalance with Van Eck having to buy back in down the track at a significantly higher price. Remove Van Eck from the ASM register and potentially remove 3.88 million shares for the shorters to borrow. If Van Eck does sell out at the next rebalance this might turn out to be a buying opportunity for those in for the long haul. Time will tell.
