I have given up trying to predict what MVIS will come up with for their forthcoming REMX rebalance that Van Eck tracks. I suspect their selection criteria may not be as rigorous as stated. They have taken a bloodbath on some Australian components since the last rebalance and who knows how they handle a stock currently under suspension. I hope that ASM does drop out this time as it will remove a significant holder being a source of loan stock for the short sellers. Critical dates are valuation date 31st May, publication date 10th June and implementation 17th June. There will be a number of other index reweightings around this time so perhaps a challenging roller coaster ride coming up.
Best case scenario is ASM drops out of Van Eck and has to buy back in at a very much higher price in a subsequent rebalance.
DYOR and tighten the seat belt.
