Probably a silly question, but I'll ask it anyway...
If an institution loads up on ASM shares at an average price of $10, why would they then loan out the shares for someone to short the stock and drive the price much lower to say $3? What does an institutional holder gain by loaning the shares and decreasing the value of their own investment?
