Lithium Ion (Li-Ion), Molten Salt (Na-NiCl2), Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) and Lithium Sulphur (Li-S), these are the only ones which are currently in play and Li-Ion is the one which is used widely and heavily invested for further research, other type of batteries are not even closer to getting out of the lab setup, even the holy grail solid state batteries contains Li, so Li is here to stay which ever combination you think in chemistry
