There is a need for both
I personally have a small hybrid which I use for daily runabout at 4 litre per 100km. Engine stops when not required EG every time you stop or are driving slowly.
Ideally, I'd prefer full electrical but won't do it until I can charge it from home storage which is currently far too expensive
The whole EV charging infrastructure, including home storage charging capabilities, needs to be improved to allow EV growth to really take off.
