The last time shorts spiked it was close to a company share placement. It is my presumption that the issued shares wiped out the shorts - my opinion only Please see my post below from 29th May.
16.7m shorts disappeared but only 2.8m shares traded on the relevant day. It didn't add up.
We did have a quick 10% selloff before the trading halt on the 18th September
It was probably just some awesome timing by some institutional players and just a complete coincidence.
With URA selling down recently and shorts up a reasonable amount in just a week (up 80% or ~4m shares), I just wanted to highlight what I thought was history repeating itself with another timely placement. It looks as if I am wrong and shorts are retreating quickly... and today seems like another short covering day (maybe).
I wanted to publish this in real time as ASN has been my worst trade this last year and dilution will not help me to recover up double from here.
All good, the tin foil hat is now off and all is well with the universe.
