With the delay of LG's and Panasonics 4680,and with hints that they are trying to increase the energy density and safety. Then the whisper of Tesla's 3rd generation 4680 comprising of a 90% Nickel cathode it leads me to believe that current chemistry is at its limit, or close to it, and they are working on something that is very energy dense. With the Semi and Cybertruck ramping production it doesn't come as a surprise.
