Then the AFR, the Australian, the SMH, miningnews.com, the Business Spectator, etc would all be punished. Most of us would be scanning every piece of media we can to get some kind of inside knowledge. I love the AFR, but much of it is rumour. I imagine lots of private equity players and bankers enjoy feeding rumour to the media to play with share prices. Just because we know that, doesn;t mean we don't still get caught up in rumour. In fact, many people buy on the rumour. The fact is that there is not an unconditional offer of 65c on the table.
Maybe the SMH should have said, "a source close to the company says..." like New Idea does. :D
