Advent has high hopes for tight gas success in Bonaparte

AN independent review of Advent Energy’s EP386 and RL1 permits in the Bonaparte Basin, northern Australia, has upgraded the commercial potential of the two tight gas fields.

Advent said the report by Tanvinh Resources – which provides consultancy services for tight gas projects – found commercial flow rates from existing gas accumulations would be possible if formation damage was avoided.

The report also found strong evidence from pressure data that stratigraphic traps were present and associated with the existing gas discoveries.

This would provide additional upside potential to the hydrocarbon resources previously identified in the two permits.

Following the positive review, Advent said it had started a multi-phased study to address methods of minimising formation damage and significantly improve gas flow rates.

The company is highly encouraged by the review which improves the near-term development potential of the two assets.

Advent holds 100% of both EP 386 and RL1 which straddle the Northern Territory and Western Australian border.
