9L, indeed abortion has become an everyday means of convenience for girls just too slack to protect themselves in the first place.....they can just pop in & have a "scrape" and Bob's your uncle... Moral standards have long been on the decline...
I guess, one can justify if the pregnancy endangers the life of the mother...or if the foetus is known to be majorly abnormal... sure, the Pope would disagree, but it's not the Pope that's pregnant....
Voluntary Euthanasia , I feel, should be allowed. If one is sick, depressed, why should one have to suffer? Why should one die a slow death over months connected to tubes, only awake when screaming in pain because more morphine is needed? Its not a pretty sight, and I wouldnt want my family to see me like that, or in fact even to think of me like that......
If the mentally ill wish to die, why not let them? Why does anyone HAVE to suffer misery, pain? I will say here that euthanasia should not be an option of escape for those serving a life sentence for a fiendish crime.
I was disappointed when they shut down the euthanasia clinic in the N.T. They should have one in all capital cities...... It may cut the road toll (not a jest). Suicide has been suspected in many fatal accidents. I know of 2 that definitely were suicide head-ons, subjecting occupants in the other vehicles to death, injury, trauma.... a sick way indeed to leave this life, eh? Wouldnt walking in and getting a needle , or a glass of Nembutal be more civilised? Same with people having to resort to shooting themselves......what a messy way for all concerned.....and becoming another statistic the Greens can use to disarm people? Yuk!
I didnt know about the Netherlands, but Belgium and Switzerland have euthanasia on request....why shouldnt we? We seem to try to lead the world in everything else.....
The only obstacle is our religious restraints, and in that I respect everyone's personal views....
My Catholic upbringing as a child tells me euthanasia is wrong, and I would "burn' if I elected to pursue it..... I think i could "live" with that .... (pun intended)
I think one could make a case for those unhappy with life, for whatever reason, to be allowed to depart without pain, without stigma, peacefully., and with dignity..
Just my views, but I certainly respect the views of others.
