Multiple news overnight showing support for the Nickel Manganese Cobalt battery chemistry, General Motors and QPM.
    - LG Chem, the parent company of QPM partner LGES, have started production of single crystal battery cathodes. What does this mean?
Single-crystal cathode materials are made from metals such as nickel, cobalt and manganese, and are then placed into a one-body structure. They increase the lifespan by 30 percent and raise the energy density of the battery by 10 percent. For example, an EV equipped with batteries made from conventional cathodes can run 500 kilometers (310 miles) per single charge, an EV with single-crystal cathodes can travel 550 kilometers per charge, according to LG Chem.

    - Another small cap Aussie company, Element 25, has signed a new deal with GM to expand manganese sulfate production in the US: https://electrek.co/2023/06/26/gm-element-25-to-supercharge-the-us-ev-battery-supply-chain/. Under the supply agreement, Element 25 will provide GM with up to 32,500 metric tons of manganese sulfate annually to help the automaker hit its goal of producing over one million EVs in North America by 2025.
The deal also includes an $85 million GM-funded loan to help Element 25 fund the construction of a new battery-grade manganese sulfate facility in Lousiana, expected to be the first of its kind. Starting in 2025, Element will produce manganese sulfate at the facility by processing manganese concentrate from its mining business in Australia.
The article also gives a shout out to our QPM smile.png

    - Lastly, there was the World Mining Conference in Brisbane and an Australian Resource Minister's Roundtable on it's sidelines.
Minister for Resources and Northern Australia Madeleine King addressed the Congress' special symposium and said the global shift to clean energy and lower emissions will require more mining to meet the demand for low-emissions technologies. She said recent International Energy Agency analysis says by 2030, the world will need around 50 new lithium mines, 60 new nickel mines and 17 new cobalt mines in order to meet 2030 emissions goals. She went on to state: "Fully realising them, however, will involve mining companies embracing new responsibilities and obligations. These include a commitment to enhancing our environmental and social governance credentials and serious pledges to reduce carbon emissions at source and downstream.”

Minister King also used the ministerial roundtable to update state and territory ministers on the new Australian Critical Minerals Strategy and discussed the development of Australia’s Future Gas Strategy.

Plenty of subtext screaming QPM in there!
