EU may add nickel to their Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, to add to cement, iron and steel, aluminium, fertilisers, electricity and hydrogen.
Let's wait and see how their inquiry into China EV subsidies goes.
The EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is the EU's tool to put a fair price on the carbon emitted during the production of carbon intensive goods that are entering the EU, and to encourage cleaner industrial production in non-EU countries.
It's not unreasonable to see the CBAM expand over time to cover all critical minerals used in the clean energy transition.
Perhaps QPM will look to sell their high purity hematite pellets to those supplying the EU, given steel is already in CBAM.
If my memory is correct, this week's half yearly was the first time the hematite product has been called out so explicitly:
