The EU, US, UK, & other western countries are placing greater scrutiny, with a variety of measures (each using a different scope & framework) to determine if Chinese-made EV's etc. have "unfair advantages" that enable China to make cheaper EV's; or other risks.
Western countries will adopt punitive taxes/restrictions etc. to eliminate the current price advantage that China currently has.
This will very likely cause major penalties on Chinese (or even western-made etc) EV's; & EV batteries containing dirty, high CO 2 Ni laterites- & will reduce the "attractiveness" & ubiquity of the latter.
Green Ni will be the major beneficiary- , hopefully & eventually, QPM TECH.

The United States, the European Union and other Western countries will likely restrict the sale of Chinese cars and auto supplies in their domestic markets to reduce national security and economic risks.
Over the last six months, the automotive industry -- particularly electric and connected vehicles -- has become the latest front between China and the West over strategic competition as Western governments look to restrict China's role in the sector. U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen arrived in China on April 3 for five days of face-to-face discussions with Chinese officials over several issues, including U.S. concerns about Chinese subsidies contributing to growing EV production capacity that could flood global markets.
Yellen's visit comes after the Commerce Department on Feb. 29 began formulating new rules that aim to safeguard the information and communications technology (my emphases) and services supply chain for connected vehicles"...

EU Carbon Borders Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) EU Operative Date 1.1.26; UK' s CBAM Operative Date- to be determined

A Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) applies a charge to carbon
emitted during the production of imported carbon-intensive goods, such as
aluminium, cement, iron and steel. This is to ensure the carbon price of
imports is equivalent to the carbon price of domestic production, so that
domestic climate objectives are not undermined.
1.1 What does a CBAM achieve?
To reduce emissions of carbon dioxide in line with climate change
commitments, the UK EU and other nations apply a carbon price to certain
domestic products to reflect the amount of carbon dioxide emitted during
production.1 This is explicit, through placing a charge on the activity, or
implicit, by applying emissions reduction regulations, which then result in
costs to producers.2
