When the Glencore Goro mine was sold a few years ago a Chinese show put in a bid but France knocked it back. Apparently China has been trying to get a foothold in New Cal for years and the Kanaks were listening.
France will elect it's members of the European parliament in two weeks and the hard right is expected to do well. The National Rally party led by Marine Le Pen is expected to poll strongly, in the past she has said New Cal will always be part of France.
Nickel is one reason why France wants to keep New Cal as a territory. Can Aust/QPM play a role? Maybe New Cal could put money into the project, where possible employ Kanaks in New Cal and in Townsville if/when the project goes ahead.AIMO.
