Ansearch offers demographic search
After a period of commercial testing, Australia's newest search engine Ansearch is now open for business with a novel twist, demographic searching.
Ansearch.com.au allows search results to be refined based on age and gender, letting users view results based on the browsing habits of their peers.
Ansearch chief executive Dean Jones said real estate was a huge category to search and had strong demographic biases.
"The younger end of the market view more rental property sites while older age groups tend to search for commercial or investment property," Mr Jones said.
"We can provide search results that are more relevant to the searcher based on the behaviour of Australian web users of similar age and gender."
Search results are sorted by relevancy and then ranked by popularity based upon the browsing behaviour of Australian web users.
Ansearch says it cuts down search clutter by displaying the main search results as single websites and not the individual pages of websites.
In addition to demographic searching, a series of new search features will be introduced throughout April.
Ansearch is the search engine division of Optum Ltd.
