"The cabinet also approved today a proposal for prolonging uranium mining in Rozna, southern Moravia, Industry and Trade Minister Martin Riman told reporters.

"The cabinet has agreed with the continuation of uranium mining at the Rozinka mine for as long as it will be profitable," said Riman.

The main reason behind the cabinet's decision are growing prices of uranium in global markets.

According to the latest estimates, mining could be profitable until 2012, and at the current market prices could generate a profit of Kc2bn."
