The word Islamist was invented in the USA around about the year 2000/2001 so they would have a descriptive word to use when talking about Muslim terrorists
This allowed them to have a word they could use to describe Muslim terrorists without calling them Muslims terrorists
In Queensland for many years in arrests and court cases they do not describe perpetrators as being aboriginals
In the UK they have codes to describe the various ethnic groups which to the outsider have no meaning
In many cases the religion or even the nationality would have no bearing on the case but then when you go into any government department they want to know what your mother had for breakfast on the day you were born so why go backwards on this one item
To withhold the religion in a court hearing is political censorship and should not happen, because it is relevant and how are the public able to form opinions if public information is secretly held back
