Greedy2000 - mathematically your comments are spot on - it makes perfect sense. However, the real unknown here is whether Phylomers actually work for anything. In the case of CAT and AZ, everyone knew antibodies worked, so the final buy decision was a no-brainer. In PYC's case, the decision is nowhere near as clear-cut, due to the lack of a phylomer in the clinic or at an advanced stage of development, so AZ will most likely keep their powder dry (and their BD people will cover their bums/keep their jobs safe) until the relationship bears fruit in a couple of years.
