In the space of 2 days Knight Capital (a market making firm) has lost about 75% of its market value, just because a "bot" went haywire for half an hour. They can be a gift for traders sometimes :) I recall the ANG bot going berserk a few months back. And some of the bots are easy to fool into buying shares at the offer, and selling into the bid.
