The news is like 6 months old haha When paypal announced their own BNPL, it was assumed they'd enter Australia. Not to mention also that the valuations of the international BNPL companies are now already based mainly on their US business metrics. A market which PayPal is already apart of and therefore it's impact is built into the prices of all the BNPL currently operating in the US.
Plus, the fight for market share for BNPL in Australia is basically over for the big players. Afterpay and Zip have more or less accomplished what they've set out to do in Australia for growth. Still some left to do, but their increase in customer numbers has slowed significantly because they're plateauing.
