Maybe we humans have some kind of ingrained fear response to the full moon - maybe lunar illumination used to encourage nocturnal raids by the tribe down the road, or maybe the ever-growing orb inspired a sense of nameless dread in early mankind (how big will the damn thing grow THIS time?).
This could have led to an unconscious need to quell the moon's influence with a roof, eclipse it with the most gruesome artificial lighting we can find, and reduce the general sense of threat by selling down one's equities. I'll just about guarantee you that Warren Buffet's uncanny ability to be bold when others are fearful comes from a heavily-tiled roof and multiple lava lamps.
