    The last high was 12 years ago around 6750 just prior to the GFC, it took 12 years to get back to where it was.

    But the indices tells you a "lie"- essentially periodically, poor performing stocks on the ASX200 gets replaced with better performing ones - e.g 12 years ago, you didnt have the likes of APX, APT included and there were a number of stocks eg Babcocks of the world that disappeared as well. So its the individual stock performance that really matter and what your super is invested in. The banks and Telstra , traditional haven stocks for super underperformed the index in the last 5 years.
