Shorting should be banned fullstop. Even though I have shorted & profited in the past, it does nothing other than turn the stock market into a poker machine. Bet on black to go up, click red if you think it will go down. The markets are meant to be about capitalising public companies in order to contribute to a growing GDP. Shorting only erodes the chances of that. For the gamblers, take your cash out when you think it's time to short & go to the pokies, casinos or texas holdem tables.
