Correct, I think thats because IG's day change when SPI opens in the noon while CMC changes it when it opens in the morning. When I talked to CMC last time they said that they are tracking index and thats why when SPI is closed they are closed as well. I learnt this when I started trading in CFD earlierr in the year when there was long holiday and CMC was closed as SPI was closed but IG traded 100 points low and I was in short position but could not book profit.

When SPI opened after the long holiday it did not drop 100 points but was only like 10-15 points (ig recovered by then). That's when I called them and that is what I was told that they track SPI.........

Alternatively, you could have bought a market that was ticking like the SP500 or NAS100.
