You have hit the nail on the head.
"The notice was in writing and signed by an exective officer. That is the point when either a notice should have been released to the ASX, or put into Trading Halt/Suspense while they sorted things out."
Their response to the ASX was not very well thought out and has left them open for another "Please Explain" from the ASX.
They should have had their solicitor read it before replying to the ASX. Bad management.
