Liberal senator Paul Scarr has called on the ASX to "provide confidence to the market" about its CHESS replacement project, suggesting it create an independent governance structure and appoint an outside expert to review it, in response to ongoing concerns by some share registries.
ASX said it would seek to meet with Senator Scarr as part of its ongoing consultation while rejecting the need for more oversight. A spokesman said ASX was "very confident that the existing governance structure for the project is fit for purpose".
