Do you have a reference for this monthly rebalance every 3rd Friday? There is a quarterly balance on the 3rd Friday in March, June, Sept & Dec but I haven't heard of monthly fund manager rebalances before.
The ASX code for the 8.5m block is LT XT which means Late Trade / Cross Trade by the same broker. But it doesn't say ET for ETF fund buying / selling to match redemptions.
So maybe it's not fund rebalance on 3rd Friday of January after all ??
The 8.5m LT XT block after hours is equivalent to an additional 40% on top of the 21.5m total volume on Friday excluding the block.
