No disrepect, but I think short selling is okay.
I have never used it but regret I didn't take out a short in January as a hedge against my long position here. It would had offered me some insurance against the market sell off which I could foresee but did nothing to insure myself for that event. A short would have allowed me to keep my shares and negate some of the losses. In fact, I probably would have pocket the profit from my short, still had my LTR shares and maybe even adding more LTR shares.
    I don't see a problem with this.
I really don't see much difference between buying and selling. You can argue both could be done to manipulate the share price. I just see it as another tool more sophisticated investors use.
Why shouldn't anybody heavily invested in one stock who is up multiples on purchase price not be allowed to take out a hedge to insure their investment? Why should selling be the only way to insure your profits?
I doubt any such petition has any chance of success. Next time I'm in a similar position to January this year, I'll definitely be looking at taking out a ahort. It doesn't have to be a short in LTR. It could be in another less fancied lithium play.
True value will be seen eventually and I'm not looking to sell. Until they are sold, the short term price movements don't matter.
    All imo. Good luck.
