With the sophisticated bots including very clever algorithms, inside intelligence channels, and other advantages over normal Mum & Dad investors these days, I really suspect that modern shorters rarely suffer more than just a slight 'singe' at times in their overall projects designed to extract $$'s and shares from the masses while keeping market caps down for mates.
