Absolutely agree Winged, the very least I’d like to see is legislation that forces super funds to get members to opt into short selling. Members are provided a short plain English explanation and then the member can agree to having any portion of their shares loaned out for short selling. If an investor does not agree or does not reply the super fund is not allowed to lend their shares. This would put a stop to a large portion of this and would cause investors in other vehicles to start requesting the same. if the entrenched interests still want to go ahead, let them use their own shares and funds.
