I don't think RIO and ALB would go into a conflict for any resources.
See who has the controlling stakes in both ALB and RIO. Especially in ALB.

Blackrock and State St have already announced their substantial holdings in PLS about a month ago.
Interestingly while Goldman Sachs downramping lithium sector, the financial entities which also have controlling stakes in Goldman Sachs when combined are buying in the lithium stocks even at substantial holder levels.
