I was earlier reviewing the ASIC requirements about informing the market about updates to substantial shareholder notices to see if it is Hancock Prospecting that is buying....I don't think it is based on this requirement from page 73 of the ASIC guide about substantial shareholders regulation:

    RG 5.304
Where the listed entity is not the subject of a takeover bid, the substantial

holding notice must be given within two business days of:

(a)the person becoming, or ceasing to be, a substantial holder in the listed
    entity; or

(b)a movement of at least 1% in the person’s substantial holding in the
    listed entity.

    RG 5.305
This timing is accelerated during a takeover bid, when the substantial

holding notice must be given by 9.30 am on the next business day: see

    RG 5.308

As I do not believe it would make sense for ALB to be buying as they cannot vote their shares, it is likely other large investors. Why would they be paying above the odds if they were going to vote to accept this offer? If there was a takeover bid on foot , which there isn't yet, then its 2 business days for a 1% increase.

    regards
    DF
